 Hello! My name is Lindsey Gaffney. I am majoring in business in hopes to create and or run a dog grooming business or a dog shelter. I have a strong passion for animals and their protection along with environmental conservation. I am very curious about the ways humans have impacted the world and what we can do to preserve it for generations to come.  In this environmental science class, I am most looking forward to expanding my knowledge about the different environments that inhabit our world and how they are being affected currently. In this class I think we will learn about the types of environments that there are, what kinds of resources each one produces, their ecology, what kinds of flora and fauna thrive there, how those environments are being affected by human life and by natural causes, and what can be done to protect the environments.

Activity 2.3 – Biosphere and Interconnections

In this concept map, I explored biodiversity. Three main factors contribute to whether or not an ecosystem has biodiversity. First, is genetic variation which is the DNA that makes up an organism. Then, there is species richness is the number of different kinds of species in an environment. Lastly, there is the variety and dynamics of ecological communities on larger scales. This is the abundance and the interaction of species in large biomes.     Biodiversity is the variety of species and their interaction with their environment. There are three main contributors to whether an ecosystem is biodiverse. First is genetic variation.  Genetic Variation is composed of the DNA of an organism.
